Source Unknown; Date Unknown Margaret Cornell "Marge" Sharp passed away of cancer at Antelope Valley Hospital on August 24, 2001. She was 78 years old. She was born and raised in the Fairfax district of Hollywood, California. She had been a resident of San Jose, California for many years. Mrs. Sharp retired with her husband, Dale, to the California City area in 1991. She loved the beauty and stillness of the Mojave desert area, and enjoyed visits to the greater desert with her husband, to study and photograph the native wildlife and flowers. Her husband had owned, and run a prototype machine shop in Sunnyvale, California for many years, where she was the bookkeeper. She enjoyed art, music, literature, and the theatre, especially musicals. Before her cancer battle started, she was a columnist for local newspapers including the Mojave Desert News, where she wrote human interest stories, and also a series of articles about the golden age of Hollywood during the 1930s and 1940s. She and her brother, Morris Grace, and sister, Alice Grace, had been extras and child actors during the depression years and her memories of that period in her life were colorful, interesting and vast. During the mid 1930s, Hollywood- extras were paid with a crisp, new $5 bill at the end of the day and she commented often about what a wonderful feeling it was to receive what was at the time a very good salary for work that was so much fun to do. Mrs. Sharp is survived by her husband of 28 years, Dale Sharp, of Mojave, California; a son, Robert Thomas, of San Jose; a son, Scott Thomas, of Columbia, California; a daughter, Karen Thomas Meyer, of Sonora, California; a brother, Morris Grace, of Alameda, California, and a sister, Alice Grace Chalip, also of Alameda. She had many grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her intelligence, curiosity, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Contributions in her memory can be made to The American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements were handled by Stickel Mortuary. NOTE: Photo At: http://www.calarchives4u.com/photos/kern/
