Source Unknown; Date Unknown Aug. 23, 1933 – Aug. 14, 2004 A memorial service was held on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Cub Lake in Bear Valley Springs for Daniel D. Shea, 70, who passed away on Aug. 14 at his home in Bear Valley Springs. Dan was born on Aug. 23, 1933, in Bell to Edwin and Frances Shea. He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman Third Class from 1953 to 1957. In 1961, Dan joined the Huntington Park Police Department, transferring after a year and a half to the Long Beach Police Department, where he rose in the ranks to detective lieutenant. Dan married his childhood sweetheart, Bonnie Lee Potter, on Jan. 29, 1955, in Bell Gardens. He retired from law enforcement after 27 years, moving to Bear Valley Springs in 1990. Dan was a member of the BVS Men's Service Club and was very active in community service. Dan will always be remembered for finding a positive side to every situation. Dan is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Shea of Tehachapi; sons, Patrick Shea and wife Suzanne of Sunnyvale and Michael Shea of Irvine; daughter, Kathleen Schroeder and husband Ron of Arroyo Grande; grandson, Scott Schroeder; and brother, Jerry Shea of Fullerton.
