All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Mojave Desert News; 22 Sep 1949 Old Resident Passes on Word was received here yesterday of the death of Willis E. Shields who was for many years a resident of Mojave, at the Veterans Hospital in Los Angeles. Mr. Shields who had been a patient there for the past several months, came to Mojave 35 years ago from Pittsburg, Pa., where he was born 61 years ago. Surviving him is his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Shields, and a stepdaughter, Kathy who reside in Alhambra, California, and one sister whose residence is unknown. He was veteran of World War I and for a time was a carpenter in the employ of the Southern Pacific railroad. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26th at Veterans Administration Chapel, West Los Angeles.
