Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 27 at 1 
p.m. at the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel for 
Walter Vassili Shubin, 54, who passed away on Dec. 
19 in Bakersfield.
Walter was born on Nov. 12, 1950 in Salem, Ore. to 
Vassili and Nadia Shubin. He moved with his family to 
California during his youth, graduating from 
Washington Union High School in Fresno. 
In 1989, Walter moved to Bakersfield to be near 
family.
Walter is survived by his mother, Nadia Shubin of 
Tehachapi; brothers, John Shubin and wife June of 
Tehachapi and Nick Shubin and wife Teresa of 
Aromas; sisters, Vera Shubin of Vista, Valentina 
Shubin of Stallion Springs and Linda Shubin of Hawaii; 
aunts, Maria Anderson of Bakersfield, Nino Konavolov 
of Woodburn, Ore., Luba Konavolov and Francis Grant, 
both of Los Angeles; and nieces and nephews, 
Monique, Kyle, Lindsay, Johnny, Jennifer, Ashley and 
Zachary.
Brother Sean McVeigh of the Jehovah's Witnesses will 
officiate.
Internment will follow at Tehachapi Public Cemetery, 
Eastside.
Wood Family Funeral Service handled the 
arrangements.
