Source Unknown; Date Unknown 1923 -1998 Funeral services were held in the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel on Tuesday, De- cember 29 for Margie Matilda (Mize) Sims, 75, who passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on December 23. Mrs. Sims was born to her parents, Jessie and Plomer Austin on February 11, 1923 in Lone Grove, Oklahoma. She resided in Tehachapi since 1943. She was very talented, enjoyed being a seamstress, creating lovely ceramic pieces, and cake decorating. Mrs. Sims was a Mary Kaye representative and sold Bee Line clothes. In 1961 she had the pleasure and excitement of being "Queen for a Day." Mrs. Sims is survived by her sons, Ronnie Sims and Johnnie Sims, both of Tehachapi, Austin Sims of Delano; daughters, Darlene Canterbury of Alabama, Lena Williams of Bakersfield, Janice Zark of Palm-dale, and Marsha Tucker of Susan ville. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; brother, Norman Austin of Tehachapi and a sister, Mazola Lauritzen of Rio Vista. Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by sisters, Wilbert King and Leola Lee and a brother, Jack Austin. Margie's nephew, Brother Wade Austin, officiated at the service. Following the funeral service, interment took place at the Tehachapi Public Cemetery - Eastside. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
