Breech passed away on Jan. 10, 2008, at his home in Moonridge following a long illness. Born May 7, 1928, in Iowa, he moved to California in 1929 with his family who were in the grocery store business while Don grew up. He then moved to Big Bear Lake in 1971 with his wife, June, and their daughter. Don retired from San Bernardino County and the city of Big Bear Lake in 1988. He served on the board for the county employees union for two years, was past president of the C.W.P.C.A. and was certified in all aspects of water pollution control. After his retirement they traveled extensively through several states and Canada and enjoyed their motorhome and home in Lake Mead, Ariz. Don was a longtime member of the Big Bear Lake Elks Club, the Arizona VFW, Big Bear Lake Moose Lodge, Big Bear Lake American Legion and the Big Bear Lake Antique Car Club, as well as a member of the Big Bear Valley Historical Society. Don is survived his wife, June of 52 years, daughter Kim Sweet, son-in-law Tim Sweet and grandson Brandon, all of Big Bear Lake, as well as many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. Interment is at Riverside National Memorial Park. There will be a Celebration of Don's Life at the Big Bear Lake Elks Lodge on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, from 1 to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Elks crippled children fund would be appreciated in Don's name.
