Redlands Daily Facts; 02/21/2008 Molly Griswold Budding, a longtime resident of Redlands, died Feb. 14 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I., after a heart attack and stroke. She was 86. She had lived in Redlands for 48 years, and for the past five years she spent her summers in Mystic, Conn. Before she came to Redlands, she had lived in Sacramento, Birmingham, Mich., Kensington, Md., Norfolk, Va., and San Francisco. She was born Feb. 25, 1921, in Clarks, Neb., the daughter of Harold and Lucille Morse. She graduated from Las Vegas High School in Las Vegas, Nev., and from the University of Nevada , Reno, in 1943. She married James Arthur Griswold on June 19, 1942, at the Army Chapel in Washington, D.C. They had four children and were married 30 years. Her husband died April 10, 1974, in a hiking accident. She married retired U.S. Navy Capt. William Arthur Budding Jr. on Jan. 3, 2003. He died Dec. 15, 2007, in Mystic, Conn. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Redlands and in Mystic, Conn. She also was a member of Ram Island Yacht Club, Nauyaug Cruising Club and Masons Island Yacht Club in Mystic, Conn., as well as the support association for the Mystic Seaport Museum. She was a member of PEO sisterhood, Daughters of the American Revolution, Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Association, Panhellenic Society, Contemporary Club and many historical societies in Redlands. Survivors include her daughters Molly G. Brenner and her husband, Michael, of Corona del Mar, Kathy Chesterman of Gravesend, United Kingdom, and Gayle Kildebeck and her husband, Ron, of San Diego; her son James M. Griswold of Redlands; stepdaughter Anne Budding Orzech and her husband, John, of Niantic, Calif.; stepson Al Budding and his wife, Jennifer Beach, of Florida; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at First Congregational Church, 2 Olive Ave., Redlands.
