"Big Bear Grizzly"; Date Unknown REMEMBERING Rodney Lee Hayden 1943-2005 Rod Hayden left this life on Feb. 15, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. He was sixty-one. Rod was born to Thomas and Angela Hayden in St. Louis, Missouri on September 26, 1943. When he was about 12 years old, the family relocated in California. In the 1960s, he served for four years in the U.S. Army traveling throughout Europe as a courier. After early retirement from the aerospace industry in 1978, Rod moved to his beloved Big Bear Valley, where he enjoyed the remainder of his life. His immediate family all having preceded him, Rod is survived by a host of relatives, friends and longtime companion, Phil Jones. His express wish that no formal or structured memorial service he held will be respected. The fortunate who knew Rod will long remember his kindness, generosity, hearty laughter and gentle spirit. Auf wiedersehen, dear friend.
