All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. "Big Bear Grizzly"; Date Unknown Frank Hoogendyk, 68, passed on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He was born on May 25,1936, in Amsterdam, Holland to Martin and Petronella Hoogendyk. Frank and his wife of 48 years, Lidia, moved to Lake Havasu City 24 years ago, coming from Big Bear Lake, Calif. He attended culinary school and began his career owning a bakery and restaurant for 18 years. After selling his business in Big Bear Lake, Frank moved to Lake Havasu City in 1978. He had many hobbies, including flying model airplanes as well as being an experienced pilot. He belonged to the Desert Hawks flying club here in town since 1978. After retirement, Frank and Lidia enjoyed traveling to his birthplace in Holland and all over the U.S. in their motor home. Frank was a good father to his sons, Rich and Bob, and was a loving husband. He will be deeply missed and always loved. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Lidia of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; sons, Richard and Robert of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; sister, Petra Port of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; brothers, Robert of Applegate, Ore., Nick of Los Angeles, Calif. and Neal of Palm Springs, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Gina Hoogendyk and three grandchildren, Kelly, Jaime and Tonya. His parents, Martin and Petronella Hoogendyk preceded Frank in death. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel. Arrangements were made by Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory.
