Sauer, 85, formerly of Bullhead City, Ariz., passed away Feb. 5, 2008, in Victorville. He was born Sept. 9,1922, in Deerfield Wis. He and his wife, Annabelle, had recently moved to Apple Valley. Harvey and Annabelle were married on Jan. 21, 1945, in Ventura. He was serving in the U.S. Navy at that time, as a Navy Seabee, stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. The Sauers moved to California in the late 1940s, and Harvey worked at Kaiser Steel in Fontana for more than 30 years. He retired in 1980, and he and Annabelle moved to Bullhead City, Ariz. Harvey was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada, and he especially loved visiting the national parks. His hobbies included working on cars, and he owned several historical vehicles. He was quite a handyman and could fix anything that was broken. When he was young, he owned a Harley Davidson motorcycle and later became a collector of Harley Davidson memorabilia. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Annabelle; brother Alvin Sauer and his wife, Marlene, of Neshkoro, Wis.; son Don Sauer and wife, Vida, of Apple Valley; daughters Rosanne Wilson and husband, Gene, of Culpeper, Va., Vicki Wilson and husband, Jerry, of Juneau, Alaska; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Victor Valley Mortuary Chapel.
