Mr. James left his home in Wisconsin upwards of a year ago, and came to California in the hope of obtaining relief from the desease which ultimately proved fatal. He sprnt some months in the Sacramento Valley, but received no benefit there, he came to San Diego in November last. The consumption was, however, too deep-seated to yield even to this climate. His death, though sudden, was not unexpected to his friends, and their sorrow was alliviated by his last moments being free from pain. He was a Free Mason of high degree; and the impressive rites of the Order were preformed at the burial.
