Rice, father of Mrs. Flora G.R. Price and grandfather of Charles C.R. Price all of San Diego and father of Martin G. Rice of Fulton, Ky.; a native of Vermont, aged 86 years, 10 months, 30 days. Friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Johnson & Connell’s chapel. D and Seventh streets, tomorrow (Sunday) at 3 o’clock p.m. Rev. W.B. Thorp officiating. Interment at Greenwood cemetery. BURIAL OF PIONEER TAKES PLACE SUNDAY FUNERAL SERVICES ARE HELD for LATE CHARLES M. RICE NATIVE OF VERMONT Funeral services for the late Charles M. Rice were held yesterday afternoon at the chapel of Johnson & Connell, where a large number of friends assembled to participate in the last rites. Services were conducted by Rev. W.B. Thorp, and interment was in Greenwood cemetery. The deceased died in this city Friday, following a long illness. He was born in Bridport, Vt., December 22, 1823, and was the only son of the late Dr. Joel Rice of Madison, Wis. He came to San Diego in 1888. The surviving family consists of the widow, Theresa A. Rice; a daughter, Mrs. Flora Price of this city; a son Martin G. Rice of Fulton, Ky. and two sisters. Mrs. F. R. Gay of Los Angeles, and Mrs. W.A. Stuckey of Nebraska.
